Gorgeous La Mesa Sunsets

Over the past couple of weeks we have had the most beautiful sunsets. Radiant shades of oranges and reds, brillant purples, and ripples of blue can be seen covering the sky as the sun is going down on the city of La Mesa.

I took these photos from my home on Mt. Helix where some of the best views of La mesa can be seen. My street just so happens to be Sunset Ave. and I think I know why.

I spent many evenings admiring these amazing sunsets but, these really made me think. How is such a beautiful array possible? How can all theses shapes and colors just be thrown into the sky, creating these cloudy quilts called sunsets.

Sometimes we forget about all the wonderful things around us, the mountains, trees, rocks, plants, flowers, the sky, the stars, and the clouds. All these things are always there and they just are, never require anything from us. That is what is so amazing. So just take some time to look around and never forget to look forward to a peaceful sunset at the end of each day.

Know What's going on with City Council

I have always been proud about how connected the citizens of La Mesa are with our City council. It is so important that they are hearing our opinions and idea, they are what keeps La Mesa such a wonderful community.
Now, it is even easier now to find out what is going on with the city council. I was very pleased to find out that our City Council meetings are televised. Yes, now you can see what important discussions are going on in the comfort of your own home. They are live on Channel 24 on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm and on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm.

So, there you have it. If you've been wanting to get involved, it just became easier.

City of La Mesa Proposes Sidewalk Master Plan

La Mesa… On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, the La Mesa City Council will be considering a Sidewalk Master Plan. This will take place at a regularly scheduled meeting to be held in the Council Chambers at 4:00 p.m. at 8130 Allison Avenue. The Sidewalk Master Plan will define where the City would like to see sidewalks completed in the future to make the community safer for pedestrians. At present, the City’s standards require sidewalks as part of typical public improvements that are the responsibility of all properties in the City. This Plan will better define where sidewalks need to be completed and some areas where sidewalks may not be required. The Plan was developed after a year long community input process.
The City of La Mesa has completed an initial environmental study for this project. City staff has determined this project does not have the potential to create significant adverse impacts to the environment under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Therefore, a Negative Declaration will be presented to the City Council for adoption. The draft Negative Declaration and initial study may be reviewed or purchased for the cost of reproduction at the Community Development Department at La Mesa City Hall. Any challenges to this determination may be presented in writing prior to, or in oral testimony at, the meeting. All testimony will be considered prior to a final determination being made. Court challenges to the nature of the proposed action may be limited to raising only those issues raised at the meeting described in this notice or in written correspondence delivered to, or prior to, the meeting.
If there are any questions about this project please contact Dirk Epperson, Assistant Engineer at 619-667-1152. [Notice of Public Meeting]
